Aroha Kaikorai Valley
AKV have a vision to create a community network of back yard trappers who are enthusiastic and energised to control mustelids, rodents and possums to levels that will lead to positive outcomes on local biodiversity. Residential trapping will also support pest control efforts that will be completed by DCC in local green spaces.
The project will facilitate people to manage traps themselves but we also intend to provide a service so that those who cannot deal with a trap or dead animals can make contact and we can manage the traps on their behalf. While monitoring trap and recording results. For example an elderly resident may know they have a possum in their garden they can simply contact AKV who will get a trained person on site to set up and monitor the trap.
