Ōtamahua/Quail Island

A community led ecological restoration project on Ōtamahua/Quail Island in Lyttelton Harbour. 105,000 trees have been planted since 1997 and all mammalian predators except mice have been eradicated. A network of DOC200 traps on Ōtamahua, on the adjacent island Aua, and on the shoreline of Moepuku Point are closely monitored to ensure the island remains pest free.
