Iwa Rd Birdlife

Iwa Rd Birdlife is a community backyard trapping initiative that sits within the Nelson Halo around the Brook Waimarama Sanctuary. With the ongoing reintroduction of endangered birds to the sanctuary, we are motivated to create safe predator free areas within our city, where our indigenous fauna and flora can thrive. We currently have 60% of homes/families in our neighbourhood participating. We are hoping to grow this participation in the coming year, and to encourage other neighbourhoods to become involved in backyard trapping.
