Mount Street Trappers - Rat-To-Tūī Trapping Group

We are a Backyard Trapping Group in central Nelson. We conducted a Bird Count in July 2025, carried out Predator Monitoring late August and held our first neighbourhood engagement event in October which was a great success. We just celebrated the 50th signed up member to our Project and with support from the NZ Predator Free Trust and Nelson City Council we currently have 68 traps in backyards of our neighbourhood.  In our first Phase we focussed on Mount Street but are now in Phase II with an expanded area including the whole northern "prow" of land which Mount Street runs along the top of  i.e. down to Vanguard Street on the West, touching Hardy Street in the North, Rutherford Street and Waimea Road to the East and Hampden Terrace to the South, some 42.5 ha. and approximately 420-450 households.
