Wildbase Recovery Aviaries

This trapping project aims to minimise the mice presence immediately around the Wildbase Recovery and Victoria Esplanade bird aviaries. Some larger pests and predators may also be trapped.

Many mouse traps are set out in timber boxes. These are checked regularly and replaced or cleaned as necessary. The project has an intensive approach to minimise pest numbers that may come in to close contact with the birds or their food source. The care and health of the birds is of high importance.

A small number of GoodNature self-resetting traps, and DOC200 traps are also used. The website is a useful site to learn more about what we do.
