Waiheke Ratbusters is an Auckland Council funded rat control project. It is historically predominately a baiting project on Council Reserves where 50 or so volunteers give their time to monitor, bait and now trap in Reserves and coastal walkways all over Waiheke. We also now have a growing number of community groups (30 or more) that have joined us and are pest controlling their neighbourhood, school or providing a protective halo around a reserve. Hence we operate on both public and private land, where ever there is the passion to enhance biodiversity. Our now over 600 volunteers do some amazing mahi, not only in their local areas but participating in the challenge of a bring about a Predator Free Waiheke.
