Kaimai Kaponga Restoration Project

Kaimai Kaponga Restoration Project is an iwi led, Te Ao Maori Matauranga initiative to restore the mauri of the ngahere in the southern Kamai-Mamaku Range to a state of mauri-ora.  Animal pest control will be a key focus, but as a holistic initiative, all aspects of a healthy and thriving ngahere will be employed to succeed in this ambitious kaupapa.  Ngati Tura Ngati Te Ngakau is leading this project with the support of other key iwi, corporate and community stakeholders.  As a jobs-for-nature funded project, Te Papa Atawhai and the Kaimai Mamaku Trust are important stakeholders that this project will be accountable to.
